High Performance Digital Media Network (HPDMnet)
CANARIE participates in the High Performance Digital Media Network (HPDMnet) research project with public and private sector Canadian and international partners. The list of institutions participating in this unique collaborative partnership includes CANARIE, Nortel, the Communications Research Centre, Inocybe, i2CAT (Spain), International Centre for Advanced Internet Research (U.S.A.), NetherLight, SARA (Netherlands), StarLight, SURFnet, and the University of Amsterdam. HPDMnet and its related activities comprise an experimental network research initiative that is designing, developing and implementing the world's first international high performance service specifically created for high quality, large-scale digital media, including support for extremely high volume media streams.

Open Grid Forum (OGF)
CANARIE has participated in the Open Grid Forum (OGF) since 2006. OGF, an internationally recognized networking organization, is the global forum in which people in research, business, and government work together to ensure that applied distributed computing-the key infrastructure for the knowledge based economy-is open and barrier free. OGF's work is consistent with the following CANARIE objectives in technology development.

Global Lambda Integrated Facility (GLIF)
By virtue of its participation in Global Lambda Integrated Facility (GLIF), CANARIE is part of an international network of advanced networks, interlinked and supporting each other in terms of providing the best possible integrated networks for the benefit of researchers and scientists, their collaboration and their inter-dependent research.

CANARIE also provides coordination and support services to Canadian public and private sector research partners for international initiatives such as Phosphorous, Manticore, Frederica, eVLBI and Eucalyptus.
