Join the Canadian Access Federation

On April 1, 2012, management of the Canadian Access Federation (CAF) officially transitioned from Canadian University Council of CIOs (CUCCIO) to CANARIE. For the past year, CUCCIO and CANARIE have shared management of this service.

CANARIE looks forward to improving, evolving and growing CAF so that you get the greatest benefit.

Joining CAF is a simple three-step process.

1Complete an application:
CAF Participant Application [PDF | 332 KB]
CAF Service Provider Application [PDF | 135 KB]

2Work with CANARIE to complete a Participation Agreement, which we will send you. [View a sample agreement | PDF | 322 KB]

3Submit your Trust Assertion Document and provide CANARIE with your institution’s configuration information. [Download a fillable Trust Assertion Document | MS Word | 546 KB]

CANARIE has reviewed its pricing structure after consulting with the R&E community and concluded that pricing based on Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs) was the most suitable approach as it directly relates to the value of the service based on user population.

Service Providers that aren’t also Identity Providers have no fee – but are still required to complete a Service Provider Application and a Trust Assertion Document.
