Organizations work together to build strong, national entrepreneurial culture in Canada
CANARIE, a vital component of Canada’s digital infrastructure supporting research, education and innovation, will join Startup Canada on Nov. 26 to facilitate collaboration between entrepreneurs and political decision makers.
CANARIE is a proud sponsor of Startup Canada Day on the Hill, a highly influential entrepreneurship event that moves the bar forward on new approaches and policies to advance entrepreneurship, innovation and growth in Canada.
The annual event was first held in 2013, and this year is set to draw more than 1,000 attendees to Ottawa, including some of Canada’s top entrepreneurs, investors, industry leaders, media personalities and government decision makers.
“We are proud to support this exciting, grassroots mobilization of entrepreneurs from across the country, who are collaborating for the collective success of Canadian startups,” said Peter Wilenius, CANARIE’s Vice President of Business Development. “CANARIE actively supports Canadian entrepreneurs by offering free cloud resources to startups as they develop and test their products in preparation for market launch. Our engagement with entrepreneurs at Startup Canada on the Hill will not only extend this offering to new users but will also help us shape our programs to best support small businesses.”
“Startup Canada is grateful for CANARIE’s support at Day on the Hill for the second consecutive year,” said Startup Canada CEO Victoria Lennox. “Organizations like CANARIE are contributing to the rising momentum and support behind the development of a strong entrepreneurial culture in Canada.”
The day-long event is punctuated with keynote talks from leading entrepreneurs, meetings with Members of Parliament, live mentorship and focus groups that will contribute to the formation of policy recommendations in the areas of: entrepreneur support, education, finance, mentorship, acceleration, innovation, growth, global markets, social enterprise, and newcomer, women, youth and aboriginal entrepreneurship. The day will be topped off with a celebratory reception with entrepreneurs from across Canada showcasing and selling their innovative products.
Throughout the event, Startup Canada will also be making a number of announcements that have implications on Canada’s local startup communities and the national entrepreneurship ecosystem.
