Controller
- Manage staff, including providing ongoing coaching and professional development
- Manage daily finance functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset management, general ledger, payroll, and banking
- Contribute to the budget and forecast preparation
- Monitor the financial results throughout the year, collaborating with departments to align financial goals with business objectives and presenting budget variances
- Manage working capital requirements and investment
- Develop and measure KPIs to achieve departmental goals in support of corporate objectives
- Maximize the efficiency and productivity of CANARIE’s accounting systems, including the
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, payroll, and banking
- Develop, implement, and monitor finance policies
- Develop, prepare, and analyze financial reports
- Manage tax and other accounting-related compliance filings
- Prepare and submit accurate financial reports to government funders, ensuring compliance with funding agreements and deadlines
- Manage all audit processes, including annual and compliance audits
- Travel may occasionally be required
- Other related duties and responsibilities, as required

What You Bring
Education and Experience
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing
- College diploma or university degree in business or a suitable combination of education, experience, or other relevant training
- In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Minimum 5 years in a management role with direct reports.
- Minimum of 7 years of related and progressive work experience in senior finance positions

Technical Proficiencies
- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and payroll is desired
- Experience working with ERP systems
