CANARIE is pleased to welcome Dr. Nancy Ross and Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan to its Board of Directors, who were elected at the Annual General Meeting held on September 17, 2026.
Dr. Nancy Ross is Vice-Principal, Research at Queen’s University, where she leads the institution’s research strategy and operations. Since 2021, she has strengthened Queen’s research profile and launched its 2025-30 Strategic Research Plan. She also serves in research leadership roles with U15 Canada and the Council of Ontario Universities.
Dr. Ross holds a BA and MA from Queen’s University and a PhD from McMaster University. A leading researcher in population health and health geography, she has received numerous honours, including a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair and the Melinda Meade Distinguished Scholarship Award.
Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan is President and CEO of Humber Polytechnic. With more than 30 years of experience in post-secondary education, she is recognized for advancing polytechnic education that supports student success, workforce readiness, and economic development. She serves as Chair of the Committee of Presidents for Colleges Ontario and represents Ontario on the Colleges and Institutes Canada Board of Directors.
Dr. Vaughan holds degrees from Memorial University, the University of British Columbia, and the University of Calgary. She has earned national recognition for her contributions to higher education, skills development, and workforce readiness.

CANARIE’s Board of Directors is comprised of an equal number of individuals from industry and academia. Directors bring a variety of skills and experience to the Board, and their backgrounds in the academic, institutional, private, and public sectors ensure the organization’s programs and services anticipate and effectively address the evolving needs of the research, education, and innovation communities. Directors are elected for one-year renewable terms, and all Directors serve on at least one standing committee of the Board.
