CANARIE today announced changes to its executive team that recognizes and celebrates the contributions of two long-standing employees and reflects the organization’s approach to career development and growth. Kathryn Anthonisen, who has served in the role of Vice President, External Relations since 2011, has transitioned to the new role of Senior Director, Corporate Strategy. Ela Yazdani, who has served as CANARIE’s Senior Director, Communications since April 2022, and previous to that as Director, Communications since April 2017, has been promoted to Vice President, External Relations.
In her 13 years at CANARIE, Kathryn’s approach to communications and stakeholder relations has served to strengthen the organization’s ability to fulfill its mission to accelerate Canadian research and innovation. As Senior Director, Corporate Strategy, Kathryn will be responsible for key strategic initiatives, including the development of the proposal for CANARIE’s 2025-2030 mandate.
In assuming the role of Vice President, External Relations, Ela Yazdani will draw on nearly 20 years of progressive marketing, communications, and stakeholder relations experience, initially with an Ottawa-based technology company and for the last nine years, with CANARIE. In her new role, Ela will be responsible for nurturing collaborative relationships with CANARIE stakeholders, and overseeing marketing and communications activities that promote the impact of CANARIE services and optimize the experience of the communities it serves.
