Director, Financial Systems

The Director, Financial Systems, is accountable for leading the evolution of CANARIE’s financial systems and their on-going maintenance. They also perform senior accounting and finance tasks.

This is a full-time, permanent position that reports the Chief Financial Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage implementation of the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and other financial systems, including monitoring progress, identifying risks, and applying mitigation strategies to keep the projects on track
  • Perform diagnostic tests and resolve issues to optimize ERP and other financial systems’ performance
  • Maximize the effectiveness of the ERP and other financial systems
  • Lead cross functional teams as part of the implementation of the ERP and other financial systems
  • Provide support and training to end-users
  • Prepare process documentation for the ERP and other financial systems
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations that contribute to the strategic direction of the organization
  • Design and develop financial reports based on user requirements
  • Implement and maintain system-related financial controls
  • Apply senior accounting skills, analytical skills, and knowledge to complete diverse and complex assignments
  • Travel may occasionally be required
  • Other related duties and responsibilities, as required

What You Bring

Education and Experience

  • College diploma or university degree in Finance, Accounting, or a suitable combination of education, experience, or other relevant training
  • CPA designation in good standing
  • Minimum of 10 years of related and progressive work experience in senior finance positions
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience maintaining financial systems
  • Experience managing and implementing ERP solutions
  • Experience with financial reporting tools
  • Experience working in the technology sector is desirable

Skills

  • Ability to analyze complex problems and guide solution development and implementation
  • Ability to lead and work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized
  • Project management skills are desirable

Technical Proficiencies

  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and expert level skills with Microsoft Excel
  • Extensive expertise in ERP systems and associated reporting tools
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains is desirable
  • Experience with Power BI is desirable
