Helping companies make sense of big data
Big data can be complicated. How do companies make sense of – and use – all that information? Wayne Madhlangobe, co-founder and senior partner at Intelius AI, understands this challenge and how it affects Canadian businesses.
“The data space is complex and there are a lot of big players and technologies. Data itself is an asset for organizations – the more data you have, the better that you can predict the future,” explains Wayne. “For a small company, getting access to tools, human resources, and technology is challenging.”
Intelius AI helps solve business problems with data. The company started in 2018 with just two staff, and they developed a solution to make it easier to use real-time data to automate decision-making. At first, Intelius AI focused on the oil and gas industry, but staff soon realized that the use cases in oil and gas that they were trying to solve could be applied to other industries as well.
“We’ve worked with companies in aviation, oil and gas, the financial sector, and health care – we solve complex business problems leveraging data and advanced analytics techniques for our clients,” says Wayne.
Joining forces with CANARIE
Intelius AI discovered CANARIE’s DAIR Cloud program via Google search. Wayne said it has been useful for their team to work with CANARIE; in addition to being a BoosterPack builder, Intelius AI staff has also learned from other BoosterPacks.
“The BoosterPack Catalogue is awesome. There are quite a few things that you can learn – like security and automated testing…it’s very helpful,” says Wayne.
Giving back to the community
Giving back to the community is important to Intelius AI and one of the reasons they decided to become a BoosterPack Builder.
“We’ve learned a lot from the community and open-source projects. As researchers, it is the idea that ‘you’re standing on the top of the shoulders of giants,’ that you learn from them, and then contribute back,” explains Wayne.
Wayne said their BoosterPack will help people make data-driven decisions and automate some data pipelines, which can potentially eliminate about 2-3 months of work.
The team at Intelius AI recognizes that they are privileged to live and work in Canada and values the opportunity to give back.
Wayne says he’s proud of being part of the collaboration and his team’s efforts to help companies across Canada accomplish amazing things.
“It’s not about the money or the achievements, it’s about the collaboration and connections that we’ve made.”
